This year, we invite you to step into a rich, soulful journey—one where your hands and heart will meet the deep wisdom of archetypes through the magic of SoulCollage®. In this immersive retreat, you’ll create and explore the timeless guides and mysterious challengers who have always walked beside you—whether you’ve known them or not.

Meet your Council: perhaps The Great Mother will cradle you in her boundless compassion… or The Fool may beckon you toward playful risk. The Artist, The Warrior, The Teacher, even Death and Grief themselves may rise to greet you—not as shadows, but as wise companions. Compassion. The Seeker. The Protector.

Which of these ancient voices stirs something within you?

Come find out.

By becoming aware of your personal archetypes, you step into a more intimate dance with yourself—one where hidden strengths reveal themselves, tender vulnerabilities soften, and your true motivations rise to the surface like art emerging from canvas.

This soulful recognition becomes a mirror, reflecting not only who you are, but who you are becoming. Your archetypes—whether the fierce Warrior or the gentle Great Mother—can illuminate the patterns that shape your choices, your relationships, your inner landscape.

As you come to know these inner figures, you’ll find yourself moving through life with more grace and clarity, attuned to the subtle energies guiding your interactions and decisions. Archetypes don’t just reveal—they transform, weaving deeper self-awareness into the fabric of your being, and inviting more authentic connection with those around you.

Let them guide you. Let them surprise you. Let them change you.

Seena Frost, birthmother of SoulCollage, wrote this about the Council/Archetypes suit in her book, SoulCollage Evolving: “You will make cards for the archetypes that compel you and guide you, ones your heart responds to most strongly. Right at this moment you may not know who they are, but your deep Soul knows. Trust your intuition.”

In this retreat, we’ll journey into the realm of archetypes, inviting them to reveal themselves in their own time and their own way. Some may be familiar companions already living in your SoulCollage® deck—others will emerge like whispers from your subconscious, ready to be seen and honored.

Through hands-on creation, you’ll craft new Council cards as these archetypes step forward, each one a visual portal into your deeper self. Expect surprises. Expect recognition. Expect the quiet thrill of meeting parts of yourself you didn’t know were waiting.

We welcome new SoulCollagers too.  If you're new to SoulCollage, you can begin your deck at this retreat.

The psychologist Carl Jung first described archetypes as “Primordial Images.” In his work, he discovered something called the Collective Unconscious—a shared, inherited part of the mind that connects all humans.

Within this hidden layer live archetypes: universal symbols and themes that we all carry inside us, whether we realize it or not. These archetypes form the deepest, most mysterious part of our inner world.

Join Deborah Milosevich and Kat Kirby at the iconic Mabel Dodge Luhan House for 5 days and 4 nights of creative exploration and enjoyment. Leave the world behind as you step into this magical world of peace, inspiration, connection, and nurturing.

We’ll begin our retreat by gathering in the warm, welcoming atmosphere of the Mabel Dodge Luhan House for an evening of connection. Sip a glass of wine or sparkling water, nibble on artisan cheeses, and let the conversations flow as we ease into the creative energy of our time together. This is your invitation to relax, unwind, and meet the kindred spirits who will share this journey with you.

Each morning, as the desert light filters softly through our adobe studio, we’ll gather in a space alive with creative energy—a sanctuary where your soul’s story begins to unfold. Here, you’ll sink into richly creative sessions designed to awaken your inner artist and guide you gently along your personal soul’s journey.

Through the soulful practice of SoulCollage®, you’ll give form to the inner voices waiting to be seen. And as your hands work and your heart opens, you’ll craft a handmade journal—a treasure in itself—with secret pockets and hidden tuck spots to cradle your newly created cards. This journal will become your companion, a place to gather whispered insights, scattered ideas, intimate sketches, layered collages, and moments of spontaneous beauty.

We’ll play joyfully with Gelli plates, colorful paints, beautifully designed stencils, and a bounty of creative tools, learning ways to adorn and embellish your journal until it feels like a piece of your soul made visible. Each session is an invitation to slow down, sink in, and let beauty guide your hands.

As twilight settles over the high desert, your evenings unfold like a gentle invitation. You might stroll into town under the starlit sky, drawn by the quiet charm of Taos… or linger in the studio, where the night air mingles with the scent of paint and possibility, and your hands are free to keep creating.

Or perhaps you’ll surrender to simple pleasures—curling up with a book, or sinking into a fireside chair at the main house, where the warmth of the hearth and the soft murmur of voices create the perfect backdrop for rest, reflection, and quiet connection.

Creating in community, bathed in the golden light of our spacious adobe studio, becomes a kind of magic—an invitation to both express and connect. As your hands move and your imagination stirs, you’ll feel the gentle hum of shared energy, the quiet joy of creating alongside kindred spirits.

In this sanctuary of color and possibility, camaraderie blooms effortlessly. Our sacred space wraps around us like a soft, unseen fabric, holding each of us in quiet wonder as art and friendship weave themselves together in ways both tender and unexpected.

SoulCollage is a magical and often profound process of creating a unique and personal deck of oracle cards, developed by the late Seena Frost. With this process, using our intuition, we make a selection of images, without knowing why, and then using just scissors and a glue stick, we create soulful cards and gradually build our SoulCollage decks.  This becomes our personal story, describing in images who we are, the roles we play, our supporters and challengers, and the archetypes that guide us.

During our time together at the retreat we will be considering the following questions:

Who or what has influenced you for a long time?

Is there a reoccurring theme in your life?

What makes an archetype a guide for you?

How do you express yourself with images and words?

What are the light and shadow sides of your archetypes?

Where do your guides show up for you?

Deborah and Kat will encourage and inspire you through a variety of prompts, poems, and personal stories to set the stage for your own creative expression.

What people are saying about our retreats:

“The Taos Art Retreat at Mabel's was deeply inspirational and restorative. The magical location makes it so easy to unplug from the world and tune into yourself. The nourishing meals made me feel so cared for. And the other women who were drawn to this workshop were so lovely! I truly feel like I made new friends for life - funny, creative, compassionate women who graciously held space for me to play and learn and grow. Kat and Deborah really curated a space and a schedule that encouraged experimentation, self-exploration, and creativity.”

Wendy S.

“This retreat gathered together some of the most interesting women I've had the pleasure of spending time with. The Mabel Dodge Luhan house is a perfect artist's retreat with ample workspace, reflection space, and comfortable rooms, as well as gorgeous meals and gathering spaces. Kat and Deborah create an easygoing studio environment where everyone feels free to explore ideas intuitively. I learned as much from them as I did the women working around me.”

“Kat and Deborah deepened my process of making Soul Collage cards by utilizing poetry writing and journal making. The beautiful setting in Taos, NM only added to the experience. I can't wait to see what they offer next year!”
